It had been probably a good four or five months since I had been to one of our baby appointments. But Shelby was about 32 weeks pregnant and I had some questions to ask. Well, ok, I had one question to ask: "Do you guys think its ok if I leave town to go backpacking, beyond all means of communication in the wilderness and 6 hours of driving away, and leave my 34-weeks pregnant wife at home alone with the dogs?"

Chasing Big Bird
On Friday September 28, I set out with my friends Gabe and Dan on a cross country backpacking adventure in Sequoia/Kings Canyon. The route started at the Wolverton trailhead, with a plan to hit Big Bird Lake on day 2, and return via Moose Lake and Alta Meadow to Wolverton on Monday October 1.

The Maiden Voyage: Jennie Lake
Good day friends!
To kickoff this blogging thing that i hope to someday fill with countless memoirs of back-country adventures and tales of deeds manly beyond reckoning, I thought it would be good to post a report on the first backpacking trip that Shelby and I did together just last year in the Jennie Lake Wilderness.
